EX Series

The Edwards EX Series is an indirect storage water heat exchange system that is designed to be heated by an array of electric immersion elements.

The EX is available in 3 models: EX450, EX850 & EX1250.

Constructed from 2.0mm thick mild steel, the cylinder is designed to withstand high water temperatures of up to 99oC on a continual basis. No anode or artificial lining is required to prevent corrosion as the EX is protected by the addition of ‘Gendex’, the Edwards custom designed corrosion inhibitor.

Located within the storage tank is a copper heat exchanger coil that contains potable, consumable water. As the water is drawn through this coil, heat from the stored neutral water is extracted, so once the potable water has reached the end of the coil it is completely heated and available to the fixtures.

With this unique mains pressure heat exchange coil, Edwards offers a system that is naturally resistant to deterioration in poor quality water. The heat exchanger is constructed of multi-start windings of Ø12.7mm Type B copper tube. Large inlet/outlet headers ensure full mains pressure water flow.

All EX units can be installed internally or externally as the EX is encased in a durable COLORBOND® steel casing to provide all weather protection. The EX is heated by immersion type electric elements operating on a single or three phase power supply. The number of elements installed can vary depending on the application the product is to be used in. The Element Control Packages available vary in size from 4.8kW up to 86.4kW.

The EX cylinder maintains the desired temperature by way of a surface mounted thermostat connected to each of the immersion elements. Each thermostat measures the cylinder temperature and turns the element on or off as and when required. Each thermostat can be individually set within the temperature range of 60º - 85ºC.

Check with your relevant State regulations for temperature guidelines.

Supplied in the EX installation kit you will find a 25 litre black polypropylene expansion tank. The expansion tank contains a float valve that will top up any drop in the EX fluid level. The kit also includes a 1200kPa cold water expansion valve and the required volume of Gendex. If the cold water supply pressure is likely to exceed 1000kPa a Pressure Limiting Valve should be installed.

Very little servicing is required on the EX range, however it is recommended that the neutral treated water circuit is checked regularly to ensure that the water treatment is at an appropriate level to protect the cylinder.
